Clearly, we would not have known the days of the week without Rebecca Black's god-awful song.
Unfortunately, the video isn't much better.
Based on the lyrics, one would assume that Rebecca Black was talking about a ride to school on the school bus. However, there is no school bus in the music video, and it seems strange that Black is waiting at a bus stop for her friends, who are all in a car driven by another friend.
The video is also very poorly crafted together. It starts off as sketches in a notebook and quite frankly reminds me of the intro to Pappyland. In a majority of the scenes, Black seems to be awkwardly placed, and almost looks as if she has been badly photoshopped into the scene. The shift from day to night is also extremely awkward. If the song is about riding a bus to school and getting through the school week The over-dramatic facial expressions (she looks like she's traumatized to the point of tears as she wonders where to sit...wtf?) also make Black look a bit like a clown and makes it nearly impossible to take it seriously.
Is it possible that this song/video is so bad that it's good? Very much so. The video already has over 2.2 million views on Youtube and the name "Rebecca Black" has been exploding all over Facebook, Twitter, and Google. Everyone has to find out who this girl is and why her song/video is so bad.
The absolute worst part of all of this is the fact that the song is horrible, yet so damn catchy...
Nicole Polizzi, known to most as simply, "Snooki" on MTV's The Jersey Shore, wants to forget about the nickname that helped to make her so famous. In an article posted by US Weekly, Polizzi stated, "I miss people calling me Nicole".
Calling the star of the Jersey Shore by her real name just doesn't seem natural. When the show debuted in the summer of 2009, Nicole went by her memorable nickname of "Snooki" and wore her signature "poof". She appeared to be more of a character than an actual person. She has since lost the poof, and with the loss of her nickname, is becoming more realistic and relatable. This poses the question, will a more realistic Jersey Shore character still be interesting?
A majority of the other characters on the show have nicknames as well, such as DJ Pauly D, The Situation, and Sammi Sweetheart. These nicknames help to give the cast an identity and make them more memorable. Those characters that are without a nickname, such as Ronnie and Vinny have not managed to garner nearly as much popularity as their nicknamed counterparts. Without her nickname, will Nicole still be as popular and relevant to the show, or will she sink back into a state of forgettable normalcy?
What do you think about Nicole's desire to drop her nickname? Do you think she is becoming too "normal" for a show like The Jersey Shore?
Will "The Great Gatsby" Be Given the 3-D Treatment?
...according to director, Baz Luhrmann, it's a definite possibility.
While it has yet to be confirmed, an article posted by the Epoch Times has stated that Baz is a strong supporter of 3-D technology and feels that this technology can do "The Great Gatsby" much justice.
However, many fans who are excited about the new adaption of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel are distraught and have taken to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction.
One user, @joshuajezioro, stated, "there's no need for films that aren't special-effects heavy to be in 3D. What does 3D lend to The Great Gatsby? Nothing." This quote sums up my feelings perfectly. Do we really need to see "The Great Gatsby" in 3-D? I read Fitzgerald's book at least three times and I saw the original movie just as many times. I'm a huge fan of both the book and the original movie, but there's nothing in either one that I feel can be enhanced in 3-D. Yes, "Avatar" was made great by 3-D technology, but for every Avatar there are three of the other Avatars, aka, "Avatar the Last Airbender", a movie that proved that 3-D technology isn't right for EVERY movie.
And what about Dicaprio's last movie, "Inception"? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that movie was one of the highest grossing movies of the year, and I believe it was not done in 3-D. A 3-D adaption of "Inception" would have made sense based on the plot and some of the special effects, but it really didn't need it to succeed after all. "The Great Gatsby" doesn't need 3-D. Period.
For the past few months many have been speculating that David and Victoria Beckham's marriage was on the rocks, especially since David was accused of having an affair. However, this no loner seems to be the case.
David Beckham announced on his Facebook account today that him and Victoria are expecting their fourth child sometime this summer. David did not mention how far along Victoria is with her pregnancy, but he stated that the sex is not known and the couple's three children are welcoming the new addition to their family.
Congratulations to the Beckhams! I hope it's a girl...a mini Posh would be awesome!
Every one's favorite, dangerous, and banned in most places alcoholic beverage, Four Loko, may have found a new use.
According to Huffingtonpost.com, the caffeinated alcoholic beverage is now being recycled into Ethanol in many East Coast states.
This news is slightly ironic, because one of the reasons that Four Loko was banned was due to an increase of DUI's and car accidents caused by the drink. Now, the same drink is being used in cars for a good purpose.
What do you think about the new discovery that Four Loko can be recycled into ethanol?
I wonder if a car runs faster on Four Loko than it does on regular gas that's not from recycled Four Loko...
