Happy 3rd of July!

I have to admit, I am not a fan of the 4th of July, or Independence Day. Let's face it, the true meaning of Independence Day is lost, which is why it always goes by the name of the 4th of July. Do people even realize that what we're suppose to be celebrating is the birth of our country and our country's freedom and rights and the signing of The Declaration of Independence? Probably not. Independence Day has turned into a commercialized holiday that is about nothing more than parades, parties, fireworks, and seeing who can drink the most.

Which is why I prefer the 3rd of July. The 3rd of July isn't really a holiday. It's a day I use to celebrate an amazing song written by an amazing band called Pensive. This is the first song I remember hearing from this band and every year I make a point to listen to it on the 3rd of July and it still never ceases to amaze me.

With all that being said, Happy 3rd of July! Take a listen to Pensive's "3rd of July" by watching the video below.

Latest Obsession: Calgon's Mmmmm Marshmallow Body Mist

Calgon's Mmmmm Marshmallow Body Mist. I got in in a set of 5 Calgon's body mist. It was originally about $18, but I got it for $3 at Berlin. You can also get it alone, not in a set, for about $6. It smells really sweet. Not as sweet as cotton candy perfumes, but a little sweeter than Sugar Vanilla. If you like Sugar Vanilla scents, than you should like this one.

Everyone's Favorite Idol Reject, Alexis Cohen, Banned from Auditions

If you're a loyal Idol fan (or even if you only watch the bad singers every year), chances are you remember Alexis Cohen. The Idol reject has audition every year for the past 2 years and didn't cease to show up at this years auditions. Cohen is known for her terrible singing and outrageous comments and gestures, particularly dropping the "f bomb" and flipping off the judges. She's the one Idol reject everyone is looking forward to seeing again this year, including the producers. However, when Cohen showed up late to her Boston audition the producers suddenly showed a change of heart and would not allow her to try out. Bummer. I hope she doesn't give up that easily and I hope she manages to get through to audition at another city!

To refresh your memory here is a video of a past audition by Alexis Cohen:

Racy Clothing Could Result in Jail Time in Dubai

While visiting Dubai, a Lebanese man drew a lot of attention to himself for his clothing choice. The man was spotted wearing a t-shirt designed by Marc Jacobs that showed a nude picture of Victoria Beckham and read "Protect the Skin You're In", which was part of a campaign in 2008 to draw awareness to cancer. While the man failed to draw awareness to cancer as the shirt was intended to do, he did draw attention to the Dubai police, as he was arrested for wearing the inappropriate shirt. The man was then sentenced to one month of prison.

Dubai obviously has different norms, rules, and expectations than America does. Compared to some of the clothes I see people wearing on a daily basis here, that shirt was rated PG! The people of Dubai have obviously never walked into an American Spencer's store...

TV Advertiser, Billy Mays, Found Dead in Home

The TV Advertiser who is most well known for selling OXI Clean products, Billy Mays, was found dead in his home in Tampa, Florida earlier this morning. It is unknown what the cause of his death is. There has been no evidence of foul play or anyone breaking in and harming him. Last night Mays' flew home from Philadelphia after shooting a new OXI Clean commercial. The plane landed roughly due to a flat front tire, causing pieces of the ceiling to blow off. After the incident Mays was quoted saying "It hit me in the head, but I got a hard head". Maybe Mays suffered a concussion or other brain or head injury that killed him? Mays' family is declining further comment and press statements as they wish to have their privacy respected during this time.
