Crystal Bowersox to Wed Brian Walker Within the Next Month

Crystal Bowersox, runner up for last year's less than superb season of "American Idol", has confirmed her engagement to musician, Brian Walker.

The news comes as a shock, as many are familiar with the story that Bowersox told about her ex-boyfriend dumping her hours before the Idol finale.

The couple plans to wed sometime next month.

I wonder why so soon? Could it be a shotgun wedding? It seems way too early for them to be wedding! I'd be highly surprised if this marriage lasts a year!

Any other thoughts?

Snoop Dogg to Judge American Idol?

Perezhilton.com is reporting that Snoop Dogg has recently tweeted an image of the American Idol logo. This tweet poses an array of questions such as:

1. Is Snoop Dogg campaigning for a spot at the judges table?
2. Has Snoop Dogg already been offered a spot as judge?
3. Is Snoop Dogg already a confirmed judge for the next season of American Idol?

Snoop is one of the crazier choices I've heard so far, but strangely, I think he is one of the best. The dude is no stranger to the music scene and he is also very talented. Snoop is known for saying crazy things and he is highly controversial. I don't think Snoop is the type of dude to refrain from speaking his mind, for better or for worst. I think adding Snoop to the judges table could be very entertaining and beneficial for American Idol.

Why do you think Snoop Dogg tweeted a picture of the American Idol logo? Do you think he may be one of the new judges this season? Would you like to see Snoop judge American Idol?

Latest Report: Shania Twain to Judge American Idol?

Perezhilton.com is now reporting that the people behind "Idol" are considering asking Shania Twain to take a place at the judges table for the upcoming season.

Shania Twain filled in as a celebrity judge last season. She wasn't completely brutal like Simon can be or bitchy like Kara always was. She was more of a spiced up version of Paula. Twain is also incredibly talented and has had much success in country music, which has quickly become one of "Idol"'s favorite musical genres. I think she would really know how to detect talent. I think she would be a pretty okay judge. Not as good as Perez, but a huge improvement over J.LO or Jessica Simpson.

What do you think about Shania Twain as a possible judge for American Idol? Do you think she'd be good or do you think they should keep looking? Is anyone getting as tired as I am about the different reports? Don't you wish they'd just make up their minds already?!?

Mariah Carey to be Next American Idol Judge?

According to Perezhilton.com, Mariah Carey may be considering taking a new job as an American Idol judge, and her husband, Nick Cannon, is fully supporting the diva!

Nick Cannon has mentioned that Carey has been talking about how much she'd love to be a judge, but is questioning whether or not she has the time.

There's been no word yet on whether or not Carey has been offered the job. If she is offered the job it will be in replace of the now dropped J.Lo.

Would you like to see Mariah Carey as a judge on the next season of American Idol? Do you think she would do a good job? While Carey is undoubtedly musically talented, I don't think she would be a right fit for American Idol. She is a bit too stuck up and I think she would be annoying to watch week after week on TV, rather than entertaining.

Yeah, I'm still team Perez!!!!!!

Jennifer Lopez No Longer Being Considered as a Replacement Judge for "Idol"

Perezhilton.com is reporting that Jennifer Lopez is no longer being considered as a replacement judge for Kara Dioguardi/Simon Cowell. The singer/actress's lavish demands are being blamed for this decision.

Now that J.LO is out of the picture, who do you think should be a new judge? Jessica Simpson was apparently really close to sealing a deal with the American Idol team, so that wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if they decided to offer it to her. For the love of God, I hope they choose to go in another direction, though. I don't think I'll be able to bear hearing the idiotic stupid nonsense that comes out of her mouth for an entire season.

I'm still team Perez Hilton. I mean, he's definitely not afraid to speak his mind and make fun of people, but he knows good talent when he sees it. He has experience in the music industry as he has his own record label with signed acts such as the french singing sensation, Sliimy, and he is very controversial, which makes for good entertainment. Team Perez all the way!

Fantasia Barrino hospitalized for drug overdose, possible suicide attempt?

Tmz.com has just reported that season 3 Idol champ, Fantasia Barrino, has just been hospitalized after overdosing on a mixture of aspirin and sleeping medication. Barrino's manager has explained that she is in stable condition and appears to just be suffering from dehydration and exhaustion.

Fantasia's overdose and possible suicide attempt came days after she made news for allegedly starring in a sex tape with married man, Antwaun Cook. This scandal has been blamed for causing Fantasia much distress and triggering her overdose.

American Idol Season 9 Contestant to Watch Out For: Katie Stevens

Oh. My God. I love Katie Stevens. How many times have you seen a down to earth, non-hardcore girl with a guitar on American Idol? I can't remember any. She's the female version of the Kris Allen type. I think she's amazing and I really hope she goes far. The only flaw is she looks kind of boring. I think in order to do well in this competition she needs to show more of her personality. Simon will probably rip her to shreds if she doesn't. lol.

Listen to a cover of her singing "Bubbly" by Colbie Calliat below. Thoughts?

Is Justin Williams a Modern Day Beach Boy?

Ever since I was little I've loved the beach boys for their distinct sound. I never once thought I'd ever hear another music artist with a similar sound...until I heard Justin Williams.

Justin Williams allegedly made it to Hollywood week this season. He also made it through last season and got cut just before the top 32 was chosen. However, I can't for the life of me remember him from last year. I think that he has a lot of potential to go far though if he got that far last season. Kind of reminds me of how Gina Glocksen auditioned 3 times before making it to the top 12.

I think he's amazing, but he won't win because American Idol is trying to find a winner that goes beyond the singing with a guitar. They had that last year with Kris Allen.

Below is a video of Williams singing "Fly Me to the Moon". Thoughts?

American Idol Contestant to Watch Out For: Todrick Hall

Todrick Hall is amazing. A really great R&B singer. American Idol hasn't had many great male R&B singers, especially not in recent singers. Because of that, I think he has a good chance of going far on the show. He'll be different and the producers seem to really be looking for different singers this season instead of the cute boy that sings with a guitar.

Hall was involved in a lot of musicals and even wrote Oz the Musical, which starred many former American Idol contestants. His connections and experience will help him a lot in the initial stages of the show, but hopefully his voice won't come off as being too "broadway" and hopefully his performances won't be too "theatrical".

Below is a video of him singing. What do you think? I think he's amazing and I can't wait to see him on the show!

American Idol Contestant to Watch Out For: Katelyn Clampett

Katelyn Clampett is definitely one of the most polished, professional alleged-Hollywood-round contestants to be liked thus far for Season 9 of American Idol. She is definitely a very talented singer and I definitely seeing her making it into the top 6 of the compeitition, but I'm not sure that she has what it takes to win the compeition. Although she is a very good, natural singer, she lacks personality. She seems really, really boring, and after having Kris Allen win last year, American Idol is not going to want to have another boring winner. Another thing that bothers me with Clampett is her apperance. She looks too made up. Actually, she reminds me of Carrie Prejean. It doesn't look right with her video, either. A makeover will definitely be needed.

Listen to Katelyn Clampett's original song, Water Them Down below:

Could Anzeo David Be Another "Plant" For Season 9 of American Idol?

I previously reported my speculation of Nicci Nix being this coming season of American Idol's "Plant" contestant. However, after seeing Votefortheworst.com's post about Anzeo David, lead me to believe that he, too, could be another "plant". David is a very talented R&B/Hip-hop artist. He has a strong potential of being highly featured and publicized on American Idol because there typically are not many strong R&B/Hip-hop artists on the show, other than the usual black divas like Fantasia Barrino. David also already has a lot of experience and musical connections. He has worked with Missy Elliot, Trey Songz, Destiny's Child, Timbaland, and many others. In addition, he was on Season 4 of Making the Band, but was cut after round one.

I think Anzeo David has large potential to prosper on this season of Idol, however, I don't see him as being a winner. Top 5? A definite possiblity. Keep your eyes opened for this potential Hollywood-round contestant!

American Idol Season 9 Contestant to Watch Out For: Ashley Makailah

MJ's Big Blog recently leaked info about Ashley Makailah possibly making it to the Hollywood rounds of auditions for Season 9 of American Idol. Makailah has a decent singing voice, but it doesn't stand out to me. I think she could definitely make it to the top 24, but it would be a real stretch to get her into the top 12. If she did make it into the top 12, I don't think she would go further than 8 or 7 before getting voted off.

Based on her Myspace defaul picture, Makailah looks kind of slutty to me. Her Myspace default is screaming "Antonella Barbra" to me. If she made it to the semi-final rounds of audution, it would not suprise me at all if a sex scandal came out about her, similar to the ones that came out about Barbra. Also, Barbra was never that strong of a singer, either. Barbra made it into the top 12, yes, but not much further. I think that Ashley Makailah is very, very, very similar to Antonella Barbra.

Here is the link to Ashley Makailah's Myspace, where you can hear some of her songs:

American Idol Contestant to Watch Out For: Tim Urban

Another alleged Hollywood-round contestant that Votefortheworst.com has leaked is Tim Urban. In this video, his friend's drumming can be a little over-powering, but from what I can hear, Urban seems to have some serious chops. His voice sounds very natural and pure. He reminds me of the kind of guy that would sing acoustically a lot on the show. He reminds me a lot of Kris Allen and Jason Castro. His voice isn't the best of the allegedly season 9 contestants that I've heard so far, but I think he could at least make it into the top 24, possibly the top 12 as well.

Here is a video of an original song by Tim Urban. I wonder if his friend is a singer, too, and if he tried out for Idol?

Is Aaron Kelly this Season of American Idol's Country Superstar?

Out of all of the alleged American Idol Season 9 Hollywood Contestants I've heard thus far, Aaron Kelly excites me the most. His voice is so strong and pure. It's country, but not overly country. I think he could also do well with other genres on the show. This kid is so young, but his voice is amazing. I think we'll definitely be seeing a lot more of him.

Listen below to his unique take on "Somewhere Over the Rainbow":

American Idol Contestant to Watch For: Daniel Murillo

Votefortheworst.com has recently posted a video of an alleged Hollywood-round American Idol contestant, Daniel Murillo. Murillo is most noted for being a member of the rock band, Hollywood Undead. In this video, he is singing a cover of Maroon 5's hit, "Sunday Morning" and it is AMAZING! If this guy continues to sing this well on the show I think that we'll be seeing him a lot. His voice is similar to Kris Allen, but less boring. He seems to be a more contemporary version of Allen, which will hopefully mean that he will share greater success. He is also pretty similar to Season 7 contestant, Jason Castro. The ladies will love Murillo.

Listen to Murillo's take on Maroon 5's "Sunday Morning" below:

Will Nicci Nix (Nicole Palmeri) Be This Season's American Idol "Plant"?

Votefortheworst.com has recently leaked information that Nicole "Nicci Nix" Palmeri may be American Idol's "plant" for this season.

American Idol "plants" are typically contestants who have had major record contracts or other promotions in the past. They always receive high praises from the judges and make it to the final rounds, but so far none of them have actually won. One of the most noted American Idol "plants" was Carly Smithson in season 7 of American Idol.

Nicci Nix is most known for being on the Dainty Kane season of Making the Band, in which she was one of the first contestants to be cut. Nix was also featured on a string of other MTV shows such as Next, Exposed, Date My Mom, and also Fear Factor, making her name and face familiar.

Nix has a video available on YouTube in which she looks like a mixture of Katy Perry and a toned-down version of Lady Gaga. It is obvious that the girl has major vocal talent, and it is also obvious that she had the funds to make a professional looking video. If Nix continues to carry herself this well on the show, she has a chance of making it into finals and prospering. Keep your eye out for Nix on this season of American Idol. I have a feeling this isn't the first you'll hear from her, especially not if she's this season's chosen "plant".

Here is the video for Nicole "Nicci Nix" Palmeri's song, "Best X Friend":

This is the Last Season of "Idol" as We Know it.

Simon Cowell's brother, who hosts the weekly podcast titled, "The Cowell Factor" announced on his most recent podcast that judge Simon Cowell will be leaving Idol after the conclusion of this coming season.

Cowell's brother stated that instead of continuing with another season of "Idol", Cowell will focus on establishing his popular UK show, The X-Factor in America.

Without Cowell's harsh comments at the judges table, it is unknown whether the show will succeed or not. The ratings for the past few years have suffered, but have still continued to bring Idol to the number one slot each week. Co-judge, Paula Abdul announced that she would be resigning from her position as judge in the summer. This action, combined with Cowell's departure would make season 10 of Idol a far cry from the original lineup that the show has carried on for 8 consecutive seasons.

Will you still tune in to Idol without Simon on the show? Do you think the show can succeed without him, or will it be an epic fail?

Music to My Ears: Idol's Time is Changed from 8pm to 9pm

Perezhilton.com has recently announced American Idol's plans to change their time from 8pm to 9pm.

This will be the first official time change for the show since it aired in 2001.

This time change will benefit me, as the 8pm time would have interfered with one of my college classes. However, how will it effect the ratings? Idol's ratings have steadily dropped over the past few years. Will America sucessfully make the adjustment from 8pm to 9pm? Or will viewers forget or watch another show at 9?

Simon Cowell to Bring X-Factor to America

Simon Cowell, current judge of American Idol, is said to be bringing his British hit, The X-Factor to America. It is a move that Cowell has fantasized about for years, but his Idol contract previously got in the way. Now that Cowell is out of contract, he is able to sign on to the project with Fox.

The X-Factor sounds highly similar to American Idol. It does not make much sense to have both shows, but since Cowell has repeatedly said that he does not want to be a part of American Idol much longer, perhaps The X-Factor will replace it all together.

What do you think about The X-Factor coming to America? Will you watch it?

Kris Allen's Debut Single Released, But It's a Disappointment.

Here's a youtube video featuring 2009 American Idol Champ, Kris Allen's debut single for the re-make of the song, "Live Like You're Dying".

I like the song, but I certainly don't LOVE it. It's nothing compared to Allen's re-make of Kanye West's "Heartless".

The original version of the song was done by a band called The Scripts.

Kris Allen's still untitled debut album will be available for purchase on November 17th.

What do you think of his new song? Will you buy his album when it comes out?
