Is Katharine McPhee the New Scary Spice?

Not officially, but her new appearance, as shown in this photo, sure is scary!

A few weeks back I posted this black and white photo of McPhee. In this photo she noticeably looks different, but not scary. She looks more like a made up Scarlett Johnson or a blonde version of Keira Knightly.

I'm not sure who she's trying to look like now, but all I can say is if she wants to actually sell her new album, this look isn't going to help!

Want to be on X-Factor? It Will Take More than Just Talent...

When you think of Britain's show, Britain's Got Talent, one name that always comes to mind, especially for Americans who don't get to watch the show, is Susan Boyle.

Boyle was the show's most remembered and arguably the most famous contestant ever, even though she did not win. Her incredible talent shot her to instant fame, however, she was not prepared.

Boyle proved that she cannot handle large quantities of stress and the high demands of fame. She broke down after losing the title last year and ended up in a hospital.

On the tour Boyle was given the privilege to perform only when she she felt she could handle it. Many people bought tickets just to see her perform, and were then disappointed when she decided not to perform.

Boyle was a singing sensation and and kept Britain's Got Talent in the news, however, it also caused many headaches and nightmares to those who worked on the show.

In order to avoid this problem from occurring another Britain talent show, The X-Factor has developed a new policy. Now, not only will contestants be judged based on talent, they will also have to go through a psychological screening to determine if they can handle the show's high stress and demands without having a breakdown. Counsel ours will also be available for the contestants at all time to help them along the way.

Do you think the new changes are necessary? Should a contestant be judged based on their mental stability or just their pure talent?

Smashing Pumpkins Hire 19 Year Old Boy as Replacement Drummer

Alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins recently announced that 19 year old Oregon native, Mike Byrne will be joining the band. Byrne will be added as the band's new drummer. He has been playing drums for 11 years and after hearing his demo tape, lead singer Billy Corgan was "blown away". Even though Byrne is much younger than the other members of the band (he wasn't even born yet when the band first formed in 1988), Corgan believes that he has an "X Factor" that will amount to much success for the band.

Byrne will be replacing former drummer Jimmy Chamberline. Chamberline was the band's drummer from 1988-1998. He is 45 years old, 26 years older than Byrne. It will be hard for Byrne to match up, but I am confident that he will be just as good, if not better than Chamberline.

How do you feel about The Smashing Pumpkin's decision to allow a 19 year old to join the band? I personally think it's an inspiration to all young kids out there that dreams really do come true. If you work hard enough and believe in yourself you really can make it. It doesn't matter how old you are. The only thing that really matters is your determination, work ethic, and of course talent.
