Will "The Great Gatsby" Be Given the 3-D Treatment?

...according to director, Baz Luhrmann, it's a definite possibility.

While it has yet to be confirmed, an article posted by the Epoch Times has stated that Baz is a strong supporter of 3-D technology and feels that this technology can do "The Great Gatsby" much justice.

However, many fans who are excited about the new adaption of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel are distraught and have taken to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction.

One user, @joshuajezioro, stated, "there's no need for films that aren't special-effects heavy to be in 3D. What does 3D lend to The Great Gatsby? Nothing." This quote sums up my feelings perfectly. Do we really need to see "The Great Gatsby" in 3-D? I read Fitzgerald's book at least three times and I saw the original movie just as many times. I'm a huge fan of both the book and the original movie, but there's nothing in either one that I feel can be enhanced in 3-D. Yes, "Avatar" was made great by 3-D technology, but for every Avatar there are three of the other Avatars, aka, "Avatar the Last Airbender", a movie that proved that 3-D technology isn't right for EVERY movie.

And what about Dicaprio's last movie, "Inception"? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that movie was one of the highest grossing movies of the year, and I believe it was not done in 3-D. A 3-D adaption of "Inception" would have made sense based on the plot and some of the special effects, but it really didn't need it to succeed after all. "The Great Gatsby" doesn't need 3-D. Period.

Man to Use His Prosthetic Eye to Record Documentary

This is pretty creepy!

Perezhilton.com is reporting that Rob Spence, a filmmaker from Canada that lost his vision and has therefore resorted to using a prosthetic eye, is planning to turn his eye into a miniature wireless video camera to record his own documentary!

The documentary will be about the wide use of surveillance cameras. Reportedly, the subjects will not know they are being recorded, because according to Spence,
"When you bring in a camera, people change".

The camera is currently in the process of being designed by Steven Mann, a professional engineer. The camera is said to be no bigger than the size of a pea, making it incredibly discreet for this project. Like most cameras, this one will still come with a battery and wires, which will be hooked up to Spence's prosthetic eye. Sounds painful!

You can track the progress of Rob Spence's project by reading his blog at

What do you think about Rob Spence's prosthetic eye camera project? Cool or creepy?

Minature I-Pads to be Available in Time for Christmas

Perezhilton.com just announced that Apple will be making a line of 7 inch I-Pads in time for the holiday season.

The current I-pads are just over 9 and a half inches.

Honestly, I fail to see the point in this innovation. There's the standard size I-pad, apple laptops, I-phones, Ipods, and now a smaller I-pad? Why? They all do pretty much the same things, don't they? I mean, if you want something smaller than the I-pad why not just purchase and I-phone or an I-pod Touch? Do we really need a miniature I-pad? It almost seems like a waste of technology. But hey, maybe I'm just biased. I never got the point of standard I-pads either.

What are your thoughts on the new, smaller I-pads? Do you own a standard size I-pad? Are you looking to purchase the mini I-pad when it becomes available?

Hayley Williams and B.O.B-The best Duo that's Never Met.

Fun fact of the day:

While Hayley Williams and B.O.B. have one of the hottest songs of the year for their duet, "Airplanes", the duo has never actually met in person!

Perezhilton.com has stated that the duo recorded both the song and music video separately and while they have communicated via twitter, both are still waiting to meet in person.

Williams has joked that the song will be performed live via Skype. Hopefully the couple will be able to actually meet in person and perform it together, though!

Check out the video for "Airplanes" below. Now that you know the couple recorded their parts separately, does it change how you feel about the video?

It kind of makes sense to me to see it now. I mean Hayley Williams and B.O.B. pretty much never appear in the same shot together except for a few of the photographs, which would be very easy to photoshop together. Overall they still did an excellent job shooting the video considering the duo never met, though.
