Hilary Duff's Husband, Mike Comrie, Signs New Contract with Pittsburg Penguins

Hilary Duff's new husband, Mike Comrie, has recently been signed to play for a minimum of one year with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Comrie's contract is not worth very much, though. Perezhilton.com is reporting that his new contract is for a mere $500,000, significantly less than his contract for his old team, the Edmonter Oilers.

Comrie had little to say about his decision to play for the Penguins, other than that he was hopeful in his ability to strengthen the team.

Could his new marriage to the famed American Duff have anything to do with this decision? Hm. Now they won't have to worry about being so far apart from each other!

Let's just hope that Hilary gets a few more acting gigs or that American money is worth a lot more than Canadian money. Ha!

I wonder if Duff and Comrie will be starting a new trend. Perhaps Underwood will soon be changing her mind about moving to Canada with her husband, Mike Fisher!

American Idol Season 8 Finale Part 1-Review

Adam Lambert opened up the finale by performing "Mad World" for his fan favorite song. It wasn't as painful as the first time he performed it. He didn't screach as much, but he made the weird faces which ruined it. I hate the trench coat he wore. It looks like he's a puppy trying to be a big dog...or Adam Lambert trying to be Marilyn Manson...it just didn't work. The judges were luke-warm to it. Randy and Kara loved it. Paula said it was theatrical, but I think she meant it as a compliment? And Simon said it was too theatrical.

Kris Allen's fan favorite song was "Ain't No Sunshine". He performed it with the piano and I loved it. This is probably my favorite song that Kris performs. It's beautiful. All of the judges loved it and Simon declared that round one went to Kris.

For the producer's choice song Adam got stuck singing "A Change is Gonna Come". To me it wasn't really any different from "Mad World". Adam didn't screech as much but he still made those weird faces. He looked like he was going to bust out crying any minute. The judges all loved it and Paula said it was her favorite performance.

The producers chose "What's Going On" for Kris Allen's second performance. He sang with an acoustic guitar, bongos, and few other instruments. I thought it was pretty good. I don't think it was the greatest song in the world for him to sing, but he didn't have a choice. I think he did about the most he could've done with the song. Kara and Paula seemed to like it, but Randy and Simon did not. Simon went as far as to say "It was like three guys in a bed room". Round 2 clearly went to Adam.

Round three was the worst. The contestants sang the same song...the song that will be their first single if they win. The song was written by American Idol judge Kara. It is called "No Bondaries" and it proves that when it comes to awful song writing, Kara has "No Boundaries". The song is truely awful. Both Kris and Adam sounded terrible. I guess it would be less painful to here Kris' version, but either one would be radio suicide. I think Kris and Adam tied on this one?

So if they tied in round three, that means it's an overall tie.

The show closed with Carrie Underwood singing "Home". Her performance was by far the best performance of the night. It's too bad she can't re-win the compeition. lol.

So who does everyone think will win? Adam Lambert is the favored winner by far, but according to dialidol.com, Kris Allen is in the lead with 66% of the votes. Well, that sure makes things more interesting...

News on past idol contestants

Along with all of the spoilers, there has been a lot of news about past idol contestants lately. Anyone remember Nikko Smith from season 4? He's planning on releasing his first ablum, "Revolution" soon. You can hear a few of his songs on his myspace, I'm listening to "Stickin" right now. It's ok, not great though. I predict that Nikko will be another American Idol flop. He wasn't too popular back in season 4 and now no one is going to remember who he is.

There's also news on Season 6's Gina Glocken. She just got married to her fiance. Haley Scarnato and Jordin Sparks were her bridesmades. Gina, Jordin, and Haley all look so pretty! I'm so happy for Gina! But I'd be even happier if she released an album! She was one of my favorite contestants in season 6!

Kristy Lee Cook who recently got dropped from Arista Records is also working on getting a recording contract with Universal. She stated that Carrie Underwood, who is also signed to Arista, may have been the reason as to why she was dropped. Makes sense to me. I mean, Kristy Lee Cook is just ok Carrie Underwood is great. Wouldn't you rather spend your money on someone that's great instead of just mediocre?

There is also news on The first American Idol, Kelly Clarkson. Her new single off of her upcoming ablum is "My Life Would Suck Without You". With a title like that I'm not feeling to confident that this song will be a sucess. Mjsbigblog also posted a picture of the single's cover. It barely even looks like Kelly. It actually looks more like a provocative Carrie Underwood. I don't like it at all. What happened to the sweet innocent Kelly Clarkson?
