Is Carly Smithson the new Amy Lee?

PopEater! has just announced the confirmation that Carly Smith will indeed replace Amy Lee in the band Evanescene, which is now changing their name to "Fallen", after their previous CD. Carly Smithson finished 5th on the 7th season of American Idol. While she was on the show, Smithson sang many covers of Evanescene songs such as "Bring Me to Life". I personally feel that Smithson is a very talented singer and a great match for Evanescene, or erm, "Fallen", but Amy Lee was one in a million. She had a very unique style and voice and it will be rather difficult to replace her. I'm interested to see how Carly Smithson works out with the band, though.

He sent me a friend request on myspace and I listened to his music and I really liked it. I searched for him on YouTube and also on google, but I didn't really find anything. I can't believe that I just forgot about him. I have no memory of him being on American Idol last season at all. He's so good though! He obviously didn't go very far last season or else there would be more information out about him. How could the judges have passed up someone so good????

Thanks for the add, it made my day actually! I am a complete American Idol fanatic, and I am more than ashamed to admit that I don't remember you at all. =(. I'm so glad that you added me though. Your music is amazing! I can't believe you didn't go further on American Idol! The judges are crazy! You're better than like 90% of the contestants! And I must admit, you are quite attractive. ;). Good luck in all that you do and thanks for the add and more importantly, thanks for adding a smile to my face, music to my ears, and being the highlight of my day!
